How to check my customer's credentials
Post 1 of 3
I have a new customer who wants a payment term that is 21 days after receiving the goods. How could I check the customer's credentials to be sure that the customer is not a fake one?

Thanks in advance for any help on this issue.

Replying to [nhtm83]:

You would need to have some type of agreement made with the buyer i am sure, as to wait for payment after they get the products is great for them but you would have all the worries.

As for suppliers in China that export their products to other countries i don't think many would use these payment terms.

Replying to [nhtm83]: Do not accept this payment term unless the buyer is in the U.S. and they do two things.

1. Provide you with a BCL
2. Terms should be at least 30% advance net/21

This way if your buyer fails to pay you have legal recourse within the U.S. that you would not in many other countries.
