Replying to [QUESTIONS]:the buyers feel that we have very low production cost in india and hence they want free samples from us . they not only want samples they want the exporter to bear the cost as well . not only that they also want the indian exporters to develop their customized samples also free and ship or courier them also free.
the perception is that in india the living cost is low and indian exporters presumbly are making HUGE profits .
I am a designer and i work as an out source designer and give design artworks via email and cd to overseas clients. if they are paying usd 250 to a european designer they would onlypay usd 100 to an indian designer for the same work . i have instances from germany who want designs for just ONE EURO not because the work is less but becuae they feel in india its good enough to pay that much. one euro rougly works our to 59 rupees . what clients or buyers are not realising that living cost has gone very high . now a litre of bottled water is 12 rupees !! .
i think you should send sample swatches thru courier and once they need full samples send it against payment . perhaps you may suceed

Replying to [QUESTIONS]:buyer very well understands this . but the price factor is very important because the importer also has to sell . the perception of indian exporter is also not very good in the mindof importer. they feel that what ever price they may pay the quality will not change that is the quality will be poor only . so they want to pay a lower price .
you need to first creat a niche for yourself , generate a trust and then seek a better price .

Replying to [QUESTIONS]:
According to your questions, it seemed you r an exporter, I presume. There may be some guys request for sample as free whether they bare the courier charges or not. But look at their side, they may asked several suppliers and logically they cannot bare the expenditures for all. And then again I am sure they may dare to order at once without testing the sample from newly contact.
If you are importer will you do it like that?

On the other side, for the sellers ofcourse they don't wanna waste the money for no good resons. But I think any seller can sense how serious the buyer is. Am I right? Seller can take precaution in this matter no matter what.

In Ms Rachna case, that's some kind ill treatment from western people. What they know is just squeez them out. If I say so I'll be one sided. as I see many trader have been damage the reputaion by themselves. So my opinion is be transparent and be honest, the time will talk.

The buyer or the seller, who ever you are, if you serve the best, they will come back later.

No sweat Question! Cheers[em37]

Replying to [Theon]: hi theon i have been handling exports for last 20 years from india and i have seen the perceptations that are about the export from india . that is why i have said the creat a nich fro your self , build trust and then demand a price . once the client will trust you they will give you the price they want. and which buyer will not like to squeeze the maximum they can!!! who does not want to make the maximum profit in todays world !! whether importer or exproter its the same vicicious cirlce

Replying to [QUESTIONS]:Cost of samples is en element to be considered under Business Promotion Expense and all Corporate companies are budgeting this expense.

It may be noted whenever samples are asked for on showing our serious interest, the overseas suppliers are couriering samples.

Samples alone can promote good amount of business and the promptness in sending the same with complete spec details will be a plus point for any one.

We need to correspond sufficiently about the buyer who is asking for samples and can even ask for company profile and website address and other relevant details to cross Check and then to proceed.

Samples even if not concluded as sales, it promotes business contacts and relationship and will necessarily yield good results over a period of time.
