Along the line of trade, you will always pop into one of these or you wish to become on.
Each on them has an advantage and a disadvantage.
To sum up, briefly what each is:

Broker: Doesn't have physical stock of products, usually uses customer's money to place an order with their supplier. Shipping time is usually longer then buying directly. But broker's profits are higher then an agent's.

Agent: Doesn't carry any physical stock. Doesn't need to discuss much with customer, just need to direct to supplier, and contact supplier about this customer. You don't have to accept any large sums in the transaction to your ****. Warranty's or shipping is not any of your part. Profits are worked on a percentage, and usual profit is 3-5$ a unit.

Everyone can add what they want to the definition, I just briefly brain stormed a few things.

I would like this to go by with a vote, place your vote in, what you think is a better position.

I say Broker.

Replying to [Xeron]: an agent cares more about long term relationships whereas a broker is more concerned about his commission. that where stays the major factor that agents are a sort of long term contracts.

Replying to [Xeron]:I dont know about broker. But being an agent I can say something in here. An agent is a well reputated person. A customer will satisfy to buy any item through an agent because to buy direct from manufacturer or shipper. So many customer are getting problem to buy direct from manufacturer. Customer doesnot know what they bought till they not recieve the goods. I am not saying all manufacturer and shipper are same. And not all agents are good. Sometimes agent do cheat. But the agent's cheating percentage is very low then manufacturer/shipper cheating.

Customer are get satisfaction through agent. I am an agent. and related with 10 constant customer of USA. I am connected with them since 3 years ago but yet not they are unsatisfactory with my quality and my service. The customer who comes to me first time By Grace of Almighty Allah they are working with me round the year. Because they do not need to go any other side.

Agent are taking 3 - 5% of the invoice value. and Customer are satisfactory to give the percentage because they are satisfied with their agents. thanks..

Replying to [Jundie]:Dear Jundie
The way I look it, I started with a broker first, because I didn't know who my supplier could be, so the broker gave a big list of potential suppliers and locations and price list. I knew that he was charging a mark up for his servcies, so no big deal, becasue still the price was competitive. I was estimating my final price in New Jersey and sounded fair to me.
As I found my niche what I wanted to focus, I switched to an agent whom I keep a close relationship and provides what I need in the business I am. So I believe both are needed to help out with critical information when doing a transcation. You just need to figure it out what works best for your interests.
