In the past few days, I have been looking for supplier at Alibaba website and found quite a few suppliers whom I am quite interested in, because they offer such a good deal and allow small minimum order quantity.

Well, I went into their website (quite convincing), and tried to contact them through phone, but so strange that all of the suppliers on my list couldnt be contacted, i.e. the phone is either incomplete, havent been connected yet, busy line or wrong number. ???? so, What happened????

Some of the suppliers are in the country, where i found it hard to check their existence, but some are just from my country. So I asked my family to check their address, but none of them exist. Again???????

After this experience, I really dunno how to trust the seller. And last night I chat with one supplier from UK through trade manager, and while chatting I checked the company name, but the company has been dissolved and the address is private address.

I am so afraid that after transferring the money, the goods will never turn up. What should I do??

Can anyone advise how to know whether the supplier can be trusted and what should I know/ask before I place order with the supplier? I know some people advise that the safetest method is visiting the supplier directly, but since I am only a small buyer, this option is really not visible for me.

Thanks

Yep Choklat, it's one * of a minefield out there. There's no easy way to avoid doing proper due diligence and in that respect you are doing pretty good so far.

If you have China in mind, you might be astonished how far $200 will go in getting little Chinese mainland experts to source product for best price from genuine suppliers.

Over in "Your Home Office Help in China" topic you will find good guys like TonyInspection and Peter Chan etc willing to assist you for a virtual song.

Replying to [Choklat]:Choklat, Many buyers have the experience of your seeking. It is hard to find the real supplier and the serious person. The most of the website is not true. So we often heard that the customer said they find the product online. But they can't be able to trust the info, and ask us to visit the supplier and negotiate with them. The means that you shoul have some friends here to work for your or as agent for you. In this case, like youself here to handle the transaction. absolutely, you must be can find the friend of your anywhere and anytime. The small business is the same need you take care.

Replying to [McGyver]: I am trying to find a supplier of electronics such as Mp3, Mp4, gaming consoles and games, digital cameras and memory cards. Anyone know of a trustworthy supplier of these type of products? I have been scammed 3 times for thousands of dollars in the past month from China suppliers. I have searched through hundreds of ads on these trade sites and they all turn out fake. Any info would be greatly appreciated...Michael in Toronto

Replying to [miketj2]:Thanks for posting. I had no idea that fraud was such a vast problem. I really appreciate the warning. Does buying with credit card offer any protection? Obviously, I'm very new to this, shopping here for an online store, not online yet, since I have nothing to sell...[em15] Liz, ghostrider

Replying to [lizgrayghostrider]:Dont let people fool you. There are no friends in business. The faster you learn that the better off you will be. People want your money and will say whatever. Credit card and l/c are the only way to truely protect yourself. Problem is many people do not offer it because of a legit reason (charge backs). Like i said, no one in busness is to be trusted, neither customer or distributor. Take your time and make intellegent decisions. Dont let a quick dollar cloud your judgement.
