In the States, international trade by individuals is not a constituitional right but a privilege, which can be removed. Penalties from non-compliance of customs regulations can mount quickly and erode any profits.
When selecting a import agent and/or Customs House broker, an essential question to ask is--what happens when a conflict arises, whether it be with a trade partner or Import authority. With that answer, you should access your risk and plan accordingly.
