Selecting freight forwarders?
Other than having my supplier recommend one, where else is it advisable to get recommendations from. I have used my suppliers shippers before and have found them woefully lacking.
My transportation needs are from China to Costa Blanca, Spain.

Replying to [winter59]:I think you should go to the shippers consel or the export office or even the customs office or the airliners if you ship by air they will be in the best position to help you get the best shippers.

Replying to [winter59]: Always develop your own relationship with your freight forwarder / customs broker. If you let your supplier choose the forwarder, he will get a kickback, you will get a kick in the pants. Always choose the broker/forwarder that has time to talk with you, explain things to you and help you get set up with good rates and service for your shipments. Buy FOB, sell CIF -- that way you have control of the service and costs involved. This is what I know from 27 as a customs broker and freight forwarder.

Its always good to look for forwarders with a greater network and well integrated system. Dont forget to try Expeditors. If you require any particular help regarding getting the right offices across, I might be able to help you. Just write into my email and i can forward you Expeditors offices in China and Spain.
