RoHS standard will affect trade of electronics items?
Post 1 of 14
I wish a good day to everybody.
Has anybody here an idea, how will the RoHS standard, introduced on the 1st July in the EU area, affect trade of electronics items? Are items without RoHS certificate not eligible for customs clearance, or can they not be sold?
I am very curiously looking forward to any ideas. I think this issue is important for many traders too.

Replying to [Gabor Bathori]:
Hello, Gabor,
Yes, RoHS standard affect the trade of electronics, because there have some many components needs the standards, but not only in electronics lines, all others like our handbag items still need RoHS standard, RoHS need the material to meet the standard, and also need the report certificate, otherwise, your goods can not clear at the custom. I am happy that our product are able to meet this standard, but price increased about 12%.

Replying to [Gabor Bathori]:
ROHS is a good method for EU Trade but many supplier took advantage from this.originally the price make difference only 4-5% but some factory say 10-15% some say 20-30%
how much is ROHS no body will tell exactly.ROHS is definalty meet Green products deamand but ROHS also provide Double profit to those supplier who cheat their clients with High ROHS Price

Replying to [mohammad]:
Maybe all they said is true. The increase of material cost is based on their different products and technology. 4-5% and 20-30% both are possible. I know that because we are bothered by using some expensive materials to meet the RoHS compliance.

Replying to [mohammad]:
We run a factory in China for electronic goods. The actual materials cost of calculation that with ROHS is 30% up that is far exceed our estimated. It is not included our production cost. We now lossing money due to our initial estimate is only 10%.

Replying to [KW Wong]:
I can understand what you mean, different lines used in different materials will cause different cost to cater for RoHS certificate. So it's all up to your choice which line are you in.
