What do you think about modified memorys (flash, cards etc.)?
Post 1 of 5
I'm going to buy flash, cards and mp4 players with modified memory (128MB into 1GB). Is that true, that it can store 1GB? How it works? What about living of this type of memory?

shadow13, I think you should do a little more research on the technical sites.  Not all MP4 players are the same.  MP4 really is the added ability of adding pictures and movie clips to an MP3 player or a stand alone video or picture player.  There are certain things you can compress well and then again things you can not.  If you compress a jpeg file x8 when you decompress you will have a very fuzzy picture.  Severe data compression on flash cards degrades the length of use and the amount of times that data can be erased and re-written.  If you compare an MP3 player with flash memory and one that has a 1"HDD the music is much crisper than with flash.  While the architecture is there to compress the flash memory I would not invest heavily in any item with this kind of compression.  HDD devices only cost about 8$ per GB to 23$ per GB for NAND flash.   LG, Motorola, and Sony Erickson already are developing Cell Phones with the 1"HDD with all the features of Pocket PC's and 6.0 megapixel digital camcorder.

Best regards,
