DEALING WITH COMPANIES IN CHINA
Post 1 of 4
I frequently find that when dealing with companies in China they are only interested in freighting products by DHL and FEDEX.
Maybe they are getting a backhander from those carriers.

As a patriotic New Zealander I always specify AIR NEW ZEALAND as our carriers. That is accepted by all the other countries we trade with except China.

If you request samples and PAY for them as well as shipping via a "POSTAL SERVICE" up to 2 Kilograms the Chinese dont want to know.

It's too easy for a business to take the money and ring DHL to ship the goods (at their exhorbitant prices) without any concern for the buyers choice.

Ninety nine percent of the companies I have contacted in China ask; "What is your DHL Number ?"

I think it is about time they asked; "And how shall we ship the goods for Sir / Madam?".[em5][em5]

Replying to [Amazonianfish]:probably this is the simplest way for them. Possibly they do not have any means to organize a FOB/FCA delivery, do not have export licenses or knowledge how to arrange an export clearance. My experience is that many smaller companies have no export licence that is valid for major airports. For example, most companies in the Shanghai area have export license for the Shanghai International Airport but only very few companies in the Shenzhen area have export licenses for Shenzhen Airport.

Replying to [Gabor Bathori]:I am inclined to agree that that may be the case.

If it is the reason , then the suppliers should have the courtesy to advise the buyers of the situation. That would give the buyers the option to go elsewhere.

But probably like a "Bazaar Indian" that hate to see a sale slide away.

From what you are saying it sounds like you are only wanting samples sent at this point? If that is so then most suppliers will allow a free sample but you cannot expect them to pay air-freight to Kiwiland.

If you have a Fedex/DHL account you can have them do a pickup at the supplier for you. There are no back-handers that way. You are basically issuing a call-tag. It costs a little bit more but you are not giving out your **** to anyone that way.
