I am new in this company and we produce a product that has a large market (everyone is aware of that North Amercia is the biggest market in the world) but few Chinese companies make it.  Since one month passed, I am confused that I received no enquiry for this produt from USA or Canada, and as I search on other B2B websites I know there are few messages of this product!

What's wrong? Is anything wrong or I am not skillful enough? Can any one give a wise idea?

Yours any reply will be appreciated.

Best Regards
Star

Dear Star,

But US is becoming an increasingly difficult market also.

As per a bill passed by the Senate recently, the American Importers have to deposit a cash guarantee with the US customs to cover full amount of Anti-Dumping Duties that might arise for their imports from China.

The American Importers will now ask to split this customs cash deposit with Chinese exporter.

That could also mean that the entry barrier for Chinese Small and Medium Enterprise which form the majority will get higher.

Regards,

Market skill? Well I expect some points', simply adjust to the market you're pertaining your inventory too, whether it be technology or whatever your interest maybe. Develop your skill on advertising and showing the best of your product's design and its comparative need in society and you'll have a great marketing skill which will enable you to reach a broad audience. Action counts also.

Dear Lylian,

If you are not getting the sales, you need to re-examine your marketing strategy.

It could be due to the Promotion of the products, the methods of advertisement, the exposure audience and impact. It could be due to the Price, that is higher than the competitors and methods of payment is not attractive for the buyer. Or it could be the Product itself that is of the outdated technology, or inferior to alternative product. Finally it could be due to the Distribution of your product, there is no available stock, or the delivery time is too long.

After identifying the root problem, find out the cause and do a corrective action plan to remedy the problem.

Product Life Cycle (PLC)

Every product has its life cycle, and some product life was cut short by alternative product. Examples: Camera films and development studios are now being replaced by the Digital camera and high resolution printers and print-booths.

The profile of the customers in the PLC are divided into groups according to their level of acceptance and demographic category. They are the:

Innov ators

the first 2.5% of the consumers to purchase a product. They tend to be risk takers, be eager to try new products (especially high-tech products) and have higher levels of education and income. They are very self reliant, gaining information from experts and the press rather than from peers.

Early adopters

are the next 13.5% to purchase the product. These people are also eager to buy new products, but they are more community minded than innovators and thus, tend to communicate with others about new products. For this reason, early adopters are often opinion leaders whom others seek for advice about products and other things.

Early majority

Next 34% of comsumers are early majority. These consumers do not rush to try out new products but collect information first, perhaps talking to opinion leaders, and purchase only after thoughtful consideration. For new products that are low involvement (i.e. low financial, social, technological risks and low emotional appeal and importance), the early majority may not give much thought before purchase, but they do watch to see others using the product before they buy it.

The Late Majority

consists of the next 34% to adopt. These folks are skeptical and generally purchase a product only after their friends already have done so. They adopt because of the desire to conform to group norms. These consumers rely more on word-of-mouth communication than on media advertisements. These are the people who are cybercritics, calling the Internet a waste of time: "Give me a good old-fashioned letter over e-mail any time."

Laggards

are the final 16%. They are very traditional and are generally of lower socioeconomic status. Often they adopt a product when newer products have already been introduced. For example, laggards might use the Internet via the telephone through an Internet Service Provider when most of the market has already moved to cable modems or some other new fast information delivery technology.

Dear Street Smart,
thank you very much for your detail reply and explanation! i think the most important factor is the price i offer is too high. but i think if the buyer would like to consider the quality, i think it's reasonable because i always tell them that everything is negotiable. but anyway, i will try to make the price a little lower. but the probelm is that the price i get from my boss is too high, but he said that it's reasonable! i can't persuade him to make it lower.
another reason maybe our product is not a popular one because it's not necessity.
