Dear Logi,

There is Anti-Dumping duty on Import of Plastic Bags into USA from 3 countries i.e. China, Malaysia and Thailand since July 15 2004 as decided by US Intenational Trade Commission.

This is specially applicable on Polyethylene Carried Bags including Groceries and Shopping bags.

Incidentally, there is no such duty if these products are imported from Eastern Europe, Indonesia or India into the US of A.

Logi, Capacity India has hit the nail on the head with regards to countries that are charged but I believe his year should be 2005.  But lets go a little further.  If your importing into the US you need to be aware that you can be charged the anti-dumping duty on anything.  It will always depend from which country you are buying your products.   Some would look at this post and think are they talking about "garbage"?  This would not be the case.  Anti-dumping is where one country sells products to another country usually below what they charge for the product in their own country.  However, this is not always the rule.  Anti-dumping duties are usually placed on items for import to the US and other countries when they would adversely affect the companies in that country by significantly undercutting the price at which they can manufacture or produce the same goods.   Case in point, sea food imported into the U.S has a very high Anti-dumping duty.

I don't know much about the situation in America, but in Europe the various countries can levvy anti-dumping laws or regulations on a case-by-case basis, meaning that the governing organizations can decide in a matter of days wether to implement a new rule or not.

This was last seen with the regulation agaist women's underwear in Denmark. Goods were hauled up for months in containers around the world.

Do you mean to say that they couldn't wear any underwear for months?
