I'm working with USA for more than 3 years and I can tell you that there is nothing special. But: 1) You should speak English fluently 2) Be very fast in replies 3) You should be honest.
And finally, the best partners/businessmans are not in USA, as for me, but in Germany.

I would say that you need to be VERY careful ANYWHERE you do business. I have found SEVERAL scammers right here in the good ol' USA. I found them and I wasn't even really looking for them. Which tells me that there are more than just those 3. Be careful who you do business... no matter where in the world they are.
Andrey made some very good points. As to doing business in Germany... it is the same as anywhere else in this world... be careful. There are scammers everywhere -- and not just on Alibaba... all of the trade forums have them. Do your due diligence and you will have less problems (I know you are a seller, but even as a seller you need to be careful).
