Found a supplier who offers these payment terms, I would be interested in 25 units to start with using escrow. As is the safest way.

FOB Shenzhen. shipping is about $125 via EMS/TNT.
Delivery is 3 to 5 days

Does this sound realistic?

As this will be coming from china I don?t want the fake copy ipods turning up, if this was the case and got scammed could I refuse the order through escrow and receive my money back?

Also as never used escrow, is it the safest way?

And the private info they give you to release the funds, is it possible for anybody else to get hold of this info??? As don?t want to get scammed!

Ali,  did they say it was an IPOD or did they say MP3.  I would make sure.  If you use escrow and they comply to the terms you set up you couldnt refuse as your money would be transfered once they fulfill the terms of the agreement.   What are you going to make on the Ipods  25 units at 200.00 + 125 +vat =240.87 per unit  in the US thats no profit as they retail for 249.99 each  or 133.82GBP  Dixon has had them on sale for 148.10 and they can offer buyer protection plan as well.  Sorry my friend this is no deal.  Have you checked out the company?  Let me also say this there are suppliers of the look a like Ipod who produce a great product that does everything the Nano does.   Instead of everyone rushing out to buy the the Nano why not find a supplier that can offer the look a like at a reasonable price and you can market the product without using the trademark name, make a good profit and still satifsy your customers.  Im not sure most are aware of this but when an Ipod breaks its gone.  There are repair places around but the cost is almost as much as a new one.  With out the protection plan for a one time only replacement of the screen consumers are out of luck.  Take a good look at the MP3 players out there that come with no flash memory and can handle 1GB to a 4GB SD card that the buyer buys for themselves.  With a little knowledge you can order replacement components yourself from the supplier and offer repairs to your customers or see if their is someone locally that you can recommend to your customers.

From the point of my wifes brick and mortar electronic's store we will not be offering the Ipod but the look alike at 50.00 below the Ipod price with the same functionality.

I could make profit on them, i wouldnt be selling to the US as live in the uk and sell on ebay. The 4 gb nano sells between £135-150 on ebay,so could make £20-35 on each unit. The company are selling apple ipods and not fakes as have checked them out and payment would be through escrow.

So could make £500-875 on these 25 units.

In Canada we can get at store for 299.00 canadian dollar and by this xmas season will be 240.00 canadian dollars.

Ali, dont forget the VAT unless according to Fraudwatcher your going to claim 65,000GBP a year you cant recover VAT.  That trims your profit down to about 8GBP per unit.

To avoid escrow releasing the money in the specefied time you would not to mention this as a term of your agreement when you set up your escrow with this buyer. Remember to take as many precautions as possible to protect yourself before the money and shippment are sent. What I have read here is that mainly the IPODS coming out of China are knock offs. Don't buy them from China. We heard from one of our suppliers that all ipods from China are knock offs.
We did some checking, and there are no Apple "distributors" in China that export.
If you do buy the knockoffs, then you are breaking the law and helping to promote piracy!!
