Some one enlighten me about 163.com
Post 1 of 11
Is 163.com like AOL why does it seem like so many fake sites use this as their email address? Thats not to say that all of them are, just the ones I have checked out. Why would a company selling to the world market not have email thru their domain. Im hoping that one of our friends from China or Hong Kong can answer this for me.

163.com (Nasdaq listed company whose business major in portal), yes as AOL, ranked high here in China for Portal. They offer free email service.

The chinese companies who do care about the technology changing busines already have their own domain & email service, but you may know there over tons of millions small & media size companies here in China, so don't bet every company has that. But in the same time, China get the most domain name & business email addree as well compare to other country,

My own expericen here that: some one who don't use a own domain email because of:

1: his company don't have this in service ( the service fee especially related technology implementation are slower here in manufactures)

2: he don't willing to show his company in the first time

3: he's trying to spam or fraud

163.com is in no relateion with China Telecome, only relationship is that they may use China Telecome's ISP service (band or Server Rack)

Replying to [Ranger]:Ranger, I agree entirely with you that one can learn alot from these posts, however, I would like to make some comments for your consideration &/or response.....

1. Headings can sometimes be misleading or obscure. This can be a problem for people scanning for appropriate information (See point 4 below) I nearly missed this post!

2. For some reason, most posts seem to end up in member discussion forums as opposed to trade essentials, trust & security etc. Is this due to newbies like myself not knowing how to post appropriately?

3. People are offering advice, information, contacts etc over several posts when in fact they could be under one major post or in a category specifically for this information. Is it worth looking into initiating some sort of category that people can just add their info i.e contacts nos. for reporting scams/scammers, company/business register etc?

4. Whilst I thoroughly enjoy reading posts, this can be quite time consuming. I find that I get so engrossed, I lose track of time. (My own time management issues need to be addressed!) Can you suggest anything to help?

I would also like to acknowledge and thank all those that have had positive input, be it big or small, in these forums.

As a newbie I greatly appreciate the information and experiences shared by members of alibaba.

Hi Ozzy,

I think that Alibaba might be about to address some of these very issues you are talking about. A couple of the moderators here have hinted to this very topic... that there are some changes coming down the pike on the message boards.

You have given some really good ideas here and at least some (if not most) I think have come up before to the mods... no doubt they have discussed them with the Alibaba br *. I'm sure that if any of your ideas here have not been brought up before, they will give it consideration. I think that Alibaba is being pretty progressive in the way they are running these forums... and I believe better stuff is coming.

I pretty much figured what this topic was about since I have seen sooooo many Chinese companies (both fake and real) use this 163.com's service. I have also wondered the same thing that Ranger did... why don't they use their domain email if they have a domain name? This topic answered that one for me pretty much. Thanks to Ranger for bringing it up!

If you have Spamming complaints then you need to send them to icedragon-sky@163.com she is responsible for all 163.com complaints.

For 162.com you can send them to watson_123@126.com who runs the complaints department.
