Replying to [koutdoors]: There are several books that you can purchase thru Amazon.com that are informative. Also, you may want to read all the information available in the resources section of Alibaba.

Try this book: Start Your Own Import Export Business by Rob and Terry Adams. This is an excellent book published by Entrepreneur Magazine.

Sorry friend just joking but it sounds really funny as Importing Guide for Dummies...
My suggestion will be to follow up resources channel to learn something about the chinese companies and their business etc. On the otherside the others offered you some books. But keep following the resources on ALIBABA. Here is also a nice guy who is answering your trade questions you can also ask to him.
Wish you good luck.

No go to Cossman.net...He really inspired me about selling products in the U.S. Because if you import, you need to find sales reps and buyers to selll to. I truly recommend his advice to anyone in the U.S.
