Ask them to pay for the freight cost of the samples in advance, in 99% of cases they will run, the one that does agree, or gives his courier details usually leads to a sale.

You guys are amazing!  I thought this was about how to “Protect yourself from questionable buyers;” however, it seems to be “Whining 101.”  You know the old phrase “if it seems too good to be true....it probably is”  But folks there is one more you need to remember, “there is a sucker born every minute?”  Well folks those of you crying here seem to have forgotten the basics of business – “you get what you pay for.”

This site is FREE and you get what you pay for.  I do not work for Alibaba nor have any affiliation with them except that I make money from leads I receive here.  I looked at the nationalities of most of you posting and unfortunately I see too many of my fellow countrymen.  You guys want to prevent much of what you are crying about – get the paid service.  How many of you have been verified!  It is very simple and if you don’t want to get yourself verified don’t cry when other don’t get verified either.  No one is forcing you to use Alibaba, nor is anyone forcing you to buy the service; however, I have very little problems and for the small cost of doing business I know a fair amount of whom I am dealing with.

Oh but are you cheap?  I mean you expect the same benefits as those of us who have paid for the service but you should not pay?  What, did someone give you the silver s in your mouth and say, you get what others pay for but for you – Mr. SPECIAL – it is free.

Most of us that have paid for the service would never do business with any of you either.  We understand that you are the types that cause us problems.  You complain about almost everything and we get stuck with problems.  Those problems make it not worth doing business with you.  You do not specify exactly what you want or you do not know all the INCOTERMS.  You complain when you do not get what you expect but never stated properly what you expected in the first place.  You come from , or yet expect the guy from , or to understand your mentality.  You do not use International standards, practices, procedures and payments; yet expect to deal on an international forum.  You are the looky-lou’s that waste our time.  You know the “give me your best price on…”

If you do not know how to tell a scam from real maybe you are in the wrong business.  Most people are scammed because of but a few things.

1.      They are greedy and want something for nothing or they want to make an unreasonable or ridiculous profit.  Do any of you fit this bill – you know something for nothing?

2.      They want to make a deal at any cost.

3.      They are lazy or ignore the warning signs.

4.      They try innovative things when conditions, timing, situations or individuals signal that this is the last things they should do at this particular point in time.

Most “trusted pass members” do not deal with anyone other than other trusted pass members.  As the child, that does not read their home work; many of you show your personal and professional ignorance.

Let me give you an example of that last statement.  In the diatribe by “concerned” a male.  He stated (among other inaccurate statements) “Not one company is legit. Not one company provides information so you can do some due diligence.”

Well let me show you where you can start: Upgrade to TrustPass® Membership. “The subscription fee also includes authentication and verification of the member's identity, which is performed by a third-party credit reporting agency.”

All companies have been verified and their business license checked.  Their physical location is also verified as are their contact numbers.  No guarantee but we do not deal with anyone on this site that is not a member, neither do a large percentage of the other members.  I guess those are not only two inaccurate statements by Concerned a USA Male, but also extremely hyperbolic.

“Alibaba does nothing to stop them. Alibaba does not provide any protection, payment service or escrow service. Alibaba is a disgrace.”  Another error Mr. Concerned!

“Alibaba operates AliPay, which enables individuals and businesses to securely, easily and quickly send and receive payments online. AliPay's service builds on the existing financial infrastructure of bank accounts and credit cards, and utilizes proprietary fraud prevention systems to create a safe payment solution.”

“Alibaba is just a Crime invested area where people rip people off on a daily basis. Nothing more!”  Wow concerned, did you mean “crime invested are?  A place where crime invests money, or did you mean “crime infested?”  You know – riddled with crime?  Simply take a look at this.  You must have been in the wrong place at the wrong time all the time!

“Alibaba.com is the only import-export marketplace named "Best of the Web" five years in a row by Forbes Magazine. The site has also been selected as a "Top Website for Entrepreneurs" by US-based Entrepreneur magazine, and the most popular B2B website by readers of the Far Eastern Economic Review, a leading financial weekly magazine published by Dow Jones - Asia.”

Wow Mr. Concerned, I guess you know much more than those rip off, crime invested operations like Forbes Magazine, Entrepreneur Magazine and Dow Jones.

Old Buck40 wrote: “Alibaba is nothing more that a breeding ground for criminals, hoping to find a naive individual (but honest business person) and rob them of their finances.”

“The Alibaba websites have nearly 18 million registered users in 200 countries and territories. In 2004, over US$4 billion in trade is estimated to have come from buyers and sellers connecting through Alibaba sites.”

Well Buck0, I guess there are 18 million criminals that pumped 4 billion to each other.  Heck at that rate banks won’t need the “know your customers” rule to protect against money laundering.  Simply let all those criminals on Alibaba do it for them.

Mansoor Khan Safi an AF Male said: “I had a contract of 12500 MT of rice from ...”

I ask, what kind of contract did you think you had?  Any contract that is NOT SIGNED is not a contract.  A verbal order “is not worth the paper it is printed on.”  YOU HAD NOTHING!  Dealing in this area (which is our area of expertise) did you get your LOI with BCL?  Without that you should never have been wasting your time in the first place.  Anyone that does not give you a LOI is not a serious buyer – don’t you know that by now.  How many looky-lou’s do you need to waste your time?

But then again it you really try hard you might give someone your money.  Yes if you try really, really, pretty please, with ice cream on top, hard; you might be able to find someone to “rip you off.”  Go ahead deliver 12,500 MT of rice (what CIF price about $300 per MT) without a BCL.  You are going to do a $3.75 million US Dollar deal and did not even get a BCL.  Who sir are you trying to kid or should I say B.S.?

We get tons of people through our website that asks for.…..!  We do not even answer their e-mails.  If you do not send a BCL & LOI we do not want to know you.  This is basic business and I seriously question whether you could have done a 12,500 MT deal without even considering that fact.  If I were your bank I would seriously question it also.

“I request you all serious Importers and Exporters that please do some thing about these scams.”

We do already.  These scams do not bother us at all.  They are after you and types like you.  Learn how to do your business right, don’t take the leaps mentioned above, do your homework before speaking and don’t point your finger (remember when you point your finger, three fingers point back at YOU!)

You can’t make it on Alibaba – so be it.  But that fact does not make the site a problem.  We have quite a good return on our very small investment here at Alibaba.

Is it fair to blame Alibaba.com for your lack of evaluating your buyer/seller carefully? The answer obviously is NO!It is interesting to read several comments blaming others and including Alibaba.com for their lack of doing their due diligence. I have learned early in my business life that I do not do business with a person or company that I do not have confidence with, it is that simple! How can you send samples to a company that you don't know and blame Alibaba.com or others for you gross negligence? I think  the person that should be blamed is YOU for not doing your homework and conducting the necessary research to know your buyer or seller well before you do any kind of transaction.

The world is full of scammers and they are always going to be around if they can find someone to fool, it is up to you to know who you are dealing with, to carefully evaluate your potential partner and use good judgment and commonsense beyond what Alibaba.com and other platforms gives you. STOP BLAMING Alibaba.com! DO YOUR HOMEWORK FIRST!

Good Luck!

The sea is filled with mind fields, our job is to disarm the mind and let it float to deeper water. Alibaba is proforming a service, they don't make any promises your not going to get your head  or leg blown off, so what is that old "lazi faire" saying "buyer beware" and now more then ever.

I just started selling internationally and boy, you should see the creeps I have attracted. It's like somebody told them I was the new guy on the block and lets take a shot at him! Everything from Gold and Diamond mines in SA, to a guy that sells welcome mats for burial sites in Guinea. Just admit it, we are the guinea pigs for the big fish and if everybody was dealing internationally, I know I wouldn't be here. So suck it up, and sharpen your knife.

New kid on the block,
