Using Suggested Categories:

Enter accurate keywords describing your item (for example, Children Garment) into the keywords box. Category suggestion is based upon the keywords you specify.

Click the “Click here” button. “Select your Category” page appears.

Select an appropriate category for your item. You can select a Suggested Category on the page. Category suggestion is based upon the keywords you specified.  is an estimate of all items listed by members in the suggested categories containing your keywords.

If you don't find a category you like in our Suggested Categories, click the "Select by Browsing the Category Here" button to make your choice.

Tips on selecting the most relevant category:

For selling leads, buying leads and products:

Before you list your item, search for items that are the same or similar to yours and take note of what categories they are listed in. 

Remember that postings can only be filed under the lowest-level subcategory. For example, you cannot file your post “Earrings” under "Timepieces, Jewelry, Eyewear >> Jewelry " or "Timepieces, Jewelry, Eyewear >> Jewelry >> Costume & Fashion Jewelry". However, you can file your post under "Timepieces, Jewelry, Eyewear >> Jewelry >> Costume & Fashion Jewelry >> Earrings".

If your item fits into multiple categories, use specific categories instead of general ones. If possible, do not select "Other."  For example:

Keywords: Christmas Gifts

Most appropriate category: Gifts & Crafts >> Holiday Gift & Decoration

Improper category: Gifts & Crafts >> Crafts Gifts

Distinguish among the similar categories. For example:

Key words: Digital Camera

Most appropriate category: Office Supplies >> Photography & Optics >> Digital Photography

Improper category: Office Supplies >> Photography & Optics >> camera

For companies:

The above rules are applicable to the company category selection as well.
