Alibaba Speaks in Switzerland Seminars: "China Market Opportunities: Challenges and Success Factors"

Geneva, 11th April 2003 The seminars were held in Yverdon and Montreux with over 60 participants coming from the area to hear what are the best entry strategies and how to source products and components from China.




A number of speakers discussed the huge potential that China offers to Swiss companies and offered some successful strategies on doing business with China both from importers and exporters.

Mr. Nicolas Musy, Director of The Shanghai Swiss Center in Shanghai, provided some practical solutions to the audience and introduced the services they offer to help Swiss companies set up their business in China.


A number of Swiss companies were invited to talk about their personal experience in sourcing products from China, and establishing long-term partnerships with China based suppliers.

In particular, Mr. Hugo Van Buel from the company Cla Val, a company part of a large American group producing hydraulic machines, explained to the audience why and how his company decided to source components from China and the impact this new approach had on their business in general.





Mr. Rene Pfiffer from Valsider SA, a trading companies dealing in metal products, shared his experience with the audience about sourcing products and components from China. He spoke about this successful experience that allowed him to cut cost and keep an excellent product quality level.

Abir Oreibi from Alibaba.com introduced the Alibaba marketplace, the China Suppliers and the free VIP Buyer Service. China Suppliers and VIP Buyer Service have attracted great interest from the audience with many companies interested to learn more about China Suppliers and use the VIP Buyer Service. The seminar delegates recognize the challenge in finding quality suppliers in China, and found the VIP Buyer Service and the China Suppliers interesting channels.
