PHILADEPHIA, USA / BOSTON, USA -- APRIL 15, 2002 - Alibaba.com CEO Jack Ma was invited to be a guest speaker at Wharton Business School, MIT, and Harvard Business School.

At Wharton, Jack gave a speech entitled: "Entrepreneurship in Post-WTO China: Perspectives of a Chinese Entrepreneur." This was his third speaking engagement at the school. Students heard him talk about the challenges of being an entrepreneur in China, the rise of Alibaba.com and how he has managed to build a thriving business despite the internet industry downturn.

At MIT, Jack was a panelist in an event sponsored by the MIT Chinese Student and Scholar Association. Some of the other speakers on the panel included Anthony Neoh (Chief Advisor, China Security Regulatory Commission) and David C. Wang (former Chairman & CEO of GE China). Jack also met with students from the MIT Sloan Business School's Executive MBA program. At both events, Jack discussed his experiences, business philosophies and gave advice on starting and growing a business in China.

At the Harvard Business School , Jack was invited to speak on a panel titled "Chinese Companies Going Abroad." This was his second speech at the school. Issues discussed included: What are some of the success models of overseas expansion for the Chinese enterprises? What are the challenges to the management team and leadership philosophy? How can Chinese companies successfully enter foreign markets and build their brand recognition? Other speakers at the Harvard event included, Ming Kang Liu (Chairman, Bank of China), Alfred Chuang (CEO, BEA Systems), Mr. Dennis Zhu (Managing Director and Head of Investment Banking China for JPMorgan Chase), and a professors from MIT Sloan Business School and Harvard Business School.
Alibaba.com has in the past hosted and continues to welcome delegations of students and Professors from top international business schools to visit Hangzhou to learn more about the company.
