July 5, 2001- Alibaba.com CEO Jack Ma travelled to Tokyo to speak at the Information Forum 2001 for SME's and Developing Businesses on July 5. Approximately 400 Japanese SMEs and corporate businessmen attended the conference which was sponsored by the largest Japanese business magazine publisher, Nikkei Business Publishing. Jack's address, "How Japanese SMEs can make use of the internet for globalization, and the importance of e-business between Japan and China," received widespread coverage in leading Japanese media. As part of the trip, Jack and Alibaba team members met with Japanese trade organizations, chambers and leading buyers to discuss opportunties for companies to source goods from China.
