Apr. 7, 2008 (China Knowledge) - Dalian Petrochemical Company, a unit of China National Petroleum Corp (CNPC), is to become the largest oil refining base in China 2008, company sources said.

With a total investment of RMB 20.6 billion, the company is expected to process 20.5 million tons of crude oil annually after the six sets of refining equipments were installed and put to operation by the end of the year. 

More equipment technologies from top oil companies such as Royal Dutch Shell are expected be introduced to the refining projects in future.

As the second largest oil refiner in China, CNPC has been in continuous effort in large refinery projects. So far five refineries with production capacity of 10 million tons are either under construction or to be constructed in Guangxi, Chongqing, Shandong, Yunnan and Liaoning.
