China’s eastern provinces form the economic powerhouse which has driven mainland China’s growth over the last decade. Converging at the mouth of the Yangtze River, where Shanghai bisects the provinces of Zhejiang and Jiangsu, this dynamic business center boasts some of the largest container ports in the world, with shanghai in 2003 becoming the world’s third largest port behind Hong Kong and Singapore.
